Every year, Swedish retailer Hennes & Mauritz, more famously known as H&M, does a collaboration with a designer and releases the collections every November. Among the famous designers who’ve tried this are big shots Karl Lagerfield (designer for Chanel and Fendi), Stella McCartney (creative director of Chloe and now Gucci – also famous for having Beatles’ Paul McCartney as a father) and Sonia Rykiel. This 2010, Lanvin’s big man, Alber Elbaz, follows suit.
According to Elbaz the collection is about colors, shapes and happy clothes. The collection includes not only frilly, girly dresses but shoes, bags and jewelry. Menswear is also included and designed by Lucas Ossendrijver. Prices range from $39.99 to $200+.

The collection was released last November in select stores in the US, and even if some bloggers have already posted pictures from the fashion show, I was still extremely excited to see the collection in person. I was in Chicago for the past 3 days tagging along with my friend and her boyfriend and my only request was to visit H&M because they don’t have the collection here in Michigan.
Unfortunately, when I talked to the sales associate from their Chicago flagship store, she said that they were sold out the very first day the collection was released. But since I’m such a shopaholic, I went to another H&M branch in Chicago to snag some $10 dresses that were on sale. Thanks to my urges to keep getting more clothes, I found a small rack with the Lanvin X H&M collection – a really small rack that contained returns from the flagship store. Yipee!!! So I got to see and try on some of the pieces! 😀
See the black dress below?
I saw it in the store 🙂
That’s me in a Lanvin for H&M dress. Weee! Forgive the ugleh face and the blur and the pose. I wasn’t allowed to take pictures so I had to hide in the dressing room and drop a hanger to cover the clicking sound. HAHA
If you’re wondering if I got the dress, I didn’t. Coz I’m cheap. 😐 hahaha I love the dresses I tried on, but I don’t think I’m ready to spend $200 on a dress. A lot of people are, though. It’s funny coz the day the collection was released, H&M had a line system. Like they would only allow a person to stay 15 min in an area and buy two pieces from each category (i.e., clothes, accessories, etc.) Pretty intense, huh? But I see why. 🙂
What do you think of the collection? 😀 Are you now an Alber Elbaz fan? :O
HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY! 2010 has been a roller coaster ride for me, with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Hopefully, 2011 will be a lot better. Thank you so much for visiting my blog. Happy 2011 to all of you! Love you all 🙂
