My Twitter timeline is starting to get flooded with #GetYourJeansOn tweets and I’m excited for two very simple reasons: one, I was very fortunate enough to be part of the campaign and two, as a regular jeans-wearer, seeing other people join in on the fun and actually blog about it is a breath of fresh air. I was starting to think other people really do wear 5-inch heels and Anna Dello Russo dangling earrings on a daily basis (while my feet are only forcibly shoved in heels mere seconds prior to stepping out of the car and my earlobes have been free of any weight whatsoever for a while now.)
#GetYourJeansOn, if you were wondering, is actually a month-long jeans celebration initiated by SM Supermalls. See, most of the time people visit blogs and feel alienated by ultra-glamorous/sophisticated looks when probably more than half the population is more akin to wearing denim. Even I sometimes find myself less likely to blog denim looks as they don’t ring ‘blog-worthy’ enough. (Although truthfully, my un-blogged jean looks were probably due to either 1) a lack of a photographer and 2) a hair/face disaster that is best not shared.) #GetYourJeansOn, by celebrating and encouraging people to wear jeans, serves as affirmation that we denim-clad folks are still players in the style game.
But seriously, the thing about denim is it serves as the perfect canvas for styling and can go from the simplest of looks to the most experimental. So let me start my jeans series with a basic look – one of my favorite Oxygen jeans (on sale now!), a white shirt, boots and black sunglasses – not that I’ll ever end it on a Lady Gaga-esque note (disclaimer). But I’m definitely looking forward to playing around with some of my trusty pairs and sharing them with you.
Anyway, to commence the month-long festivities, I invite you all to attend tomorrow’s #GetYourJeansOn event at the SM Megamall Atrium at 2 PM. There’ll be a series of fashion shows that are definitely worth watching. I believe some of your favorite bloggers will also be there so I really do hope to bump into you!
I also highly encourage you to join in on the fun and tweet me your #GetYourJeansOn #OOTDs in your favorite denims. Trust me, there’s no better feeling than fitting into your skinnies and feeling like you still have the bod’ of your 13 year-old self. To make things interesting, a lot of partner brands have their jeans marked down just for this month so you better head on to the nearest SM Department Store or your denim brand of choice (almost all brands tied up with SM Supermalls for this anyway).
