SOCKS AND HEELS DO GO TOGETHER!
Let me tell you why I felt the need to post this. Last Thursay, I was wearing a really bright long-sleeved polo with high waist loose pants for work. I don’t have a picture to share so just imagine me in the outfit. π Anyway, since I sometimes feel like my office is my home (okay, I always do. but that’s not the point.) and because my feet hurt when I wear my heels the whole day, I sometimes remove my heels and walk barefoot in my area. hihi but my feet get cold, coz it’s like zeroΒ degrees there. Okay, I kid. But it really is cold. So I was super smart the other night and brought…tantantanan!!! a pair of mid-calf socks! π which has an adorable print by the way, it’s gray with dark blue stripes. π ANYWAY (sorry for side-tracking like crazy), I wore these adorable socks when I removed my heels. They felt so comfy and so warm, I don’t regret wearing them at all. BUT. My friend and I wanted to go to Starbucks to get coffee. In order to do so, we had to go out of the building and walk. I, yes, I meaning ‘Alyssa lazy-ass’, didn’t want to remove my socks anymore. So I wore my heels, (they were white sling-backs by the way), and went to Starbucks. Needless to say, I got a few stares and a few laughs because of it. Scratch that. I had a lot of laughs because of it. (not that I minded, i did know how ridiculous the whole thing looked.) So I got coffee, went back, removed my heels again, and went back to my hardworking yet warm and comfy state (don’t react. haha)
So team, and everyone else, I just wanted you to know that despite my weird look the other night, socks and heels are really worn together. It’s been a trend for quite some time now and I must say, I really like it. (that’s why I bought those socks in the first place! π )
Some might react violently to this trend. Hell, I’ve already witnessed a few. So here are some tips in rocking this.
1. If you’re not quite ready to go all out with this, the safest way to wear this is to try it with booties. Wear ankle high booties that just give a peek of crumpled socks, or laceup boots like these:
2. If you want to wear open, strappy heels, you can try wearing socks of the same color or shade so it blends well.
3. If you’re adventurous, you can try anything! pumps with socks, clashing colors, different lengths and whatever combination you can think of. Just have fun with this trend and enjoy it. π
I like it because it’s a fresh take on heels and it tones down any outfit. It makes you look more casual but it also makes your outfit more chic. What do you think? π [EDIT: all pictures stolen from Google.]
BY THE WAY. It’s official. I’m Β going to fashion school. π π π
SoFA, here I come!!!
