Last Aug. 26, I was fortunate enough to attend the Face Shop press conference with brand ambassador/heartthrob Kim Hyun Joong. To those who aren’t die-hard fans, Kim is a South Korean actor/singer who’s part of the boyband SS501 and who was the lead in the popular TV Series Boys Over Flowers. He’s cute. 😉
I was so excited when I got the invite because I’m such a Face Shop fan. I really use their products – makeup, nail polish, creams. (that reminds me, I need to go get myself their nude lipstick. mine ran out already.) Even my mom uses their make-up! (and their falsies. HAHA sorry mom, telling the world you use fake lashes 😀 I love you! 🙂 ) I had to rush after class though to attend the press con. and Face Shop didn’t disappoint. 😉

Okay so here’s the thing. Face Shop loves Kim Hyun Joong because 1) the guy’s pretty. (he’s not just handsome. He’s BEAUTIFUL.) and 2) he has such a huge heart. He’s been to Manila before to help raise money for public schools. Thanks to him, kids in the provinces now have more materials, better facilities and generally, a better learning environment.
This time around, Kim Hyun Joong auctioned off a pair of shorts that he used last time he was in the PI. The proceeds were given to his chosen charity – the women of Abiertas.
Those are the shorts. Anyway, given that it’s his pair, a lot of fans went gaga. The winning amount? PhP 100,000. Yep. 100K.
Insane? A bit, right? But wait til you hear the winner’s story. A 74-year old mom named Patria is a huge fan of Kim’s – to the point that she has a whole shrine dedicated to Kim in her house. Patria, with her daughter Maru, has been trying to get a picture with Kim in his tours/concerts all over the world. But she never got that picture. She usually just ended up with pics of her with Kim in the distant background – pretty much like tourists and buildings. A tragedy struck the family though when Maru, her daughter, had a stroke. She was so moved by her mom who took care of her the whole time til she recovered. In her story, she mentioned that she was so touched that her mom was taking care of her when it should’ve been the other way around. And since it’s her mom’s brithday, she was determined to win the shorts to make her mom happy. But that’s not the only thing her mom got.
Well, they BOTH got kisses from Kim, but her mom FINALLY got a picture with her idol. 🙂
The moment was just so touching we were all close to tears. but to avoid crying like babies, we took pictures instead. HAHA

btw, this is the product that Kim said he couldn’t live without – E’thym. True enough, it really hydrates the skin and gives you a certain glow. It came in handy too because my recent beach trip made my face really dry. Now, thanks to this Aura Cream, my skin isn’t that dry anymore. 🙂 Thank you to Face Shop for this. 🙂
Anyway, had to leave the event early though coz I had work after. 😐 but I had such a great time. Thank you so much to The Face Shop Philippines and to Lawrence Cua for the invite 🙂
