Sexy Black

Was finally able to wear the top I got from THE Gian Romano. πŸ˜‰ I’ve been wanting to wear it to events but I figured I’d wait for Fashion Week. Soooo, I wore it on the very first day to the very first show, Bench. Oh, the show was AMAZING, but before I post pictures from the show, let me share what I, along with my GORGEOUS DATE, wore first.

Black top, Gian Romano | Leggings, Forever21 | Heels, DAS | Bag, Aranaz

Photographed by my date that night, Ms. Patricia Prieto, who, of course, looked stunning! Here are a couple pics. πŸ™‚ Oh, and funny, we were both wearing all black to the show. πŸ™‚

Had so much fun with you, love! date again soon πŸ™‚

Show pics to follow. <3 Oh, fashion week. <3

p.s. I’m so uncreative right now, the title was inspired by Justin Timberlake’s Sexy Back. which of course, you already figured out. I don’t even know why I’m still sharing it. Okay, I’ll stop typing now. 😐

Food is the Best Accessory

10 Things To Do in Bacolod

…according to Alyssa Lapid. HAHA

Hey, I ain’t no local, but here’s what I think you should try if you ever wanna go to Bacolod. Or at least here’s what we did. πŸ˜‰

1) Ride a jeepney. Okay, you can do that in Manila too, or anywhere else for that matter. Just wanted y’all to know that there’s no need to hire a van (or hitch) every single day.

2) Try on a mask (even if you have no intentions of buying).

OR…get freaked out by it. (calling all scaredy-cats! Join the club!). The masks reminded me of bad clown/carnival movies.

3) Once you overcome your fear of scary masks, take a picture with the parade puppets! πŸ™‚ btw, alyssa fun fact: I’ve always been afraid of Pinocchio.  😐

4) Tire yourself to death by trekking in Mambukal Falls. We thought we’d just take pictures but boy were we wrong. haha The place had 7 falls. We were so tired by the end of the fifth that we decided to skip the last 2. Don’t judge. We got more than enough exercise. haha

5) After trekking, dry up that sweat by:

a) riding a motorcycle!

In my defense, I look so scared in that pic coz 1) it was my first time to ride a motorcycle and 2) my Manong Driver was so fast that I was so far from my friends. I did enjoy the ride though. Enjoyed it a whole lot more than trekking. 😐

or b) Driving the motorcycle. Go Manong Marlowe!

6) Do a cartwheel/handstand or whatever it is that Yambs was trying to do (push ups? haha) by the ruins. hahaha

7) JOIN A STREET PARTY!!!!! or in our case, since we missed the street party (im actually not sure if there was one), PARTY ON THE STREET…BY YOURSELVES!!!

And if you’re not satisfied with a street party, especially if you’re a party animal like us, PARTY IN THE CAR!!!

8) TRY INASAL AT LEAST ONCE. Or twice. or thrice. or in my case, 4 times. I have actually been craving for inasal since I got back. Mang Inasal/ChicBoy/Chicken Bacolod anyone? haha

9) Eat with your hands. πŸ™‚ like how I did in this very flattering picture of me.

and lastly.

10) Truth is, it doesn’t matter what you eat or how you eat. The important thing is that you do. Okay, here’s where I get serious. The food in Bacolod is AMAZING. The only thing you really need to do there is eat. okay???

oh meet my friends real quick! L-R: Len, Ben, Chase, Marlowe, Paul, A, Kat and KB. Yambs wasn’t in Bacolod when we took the shot but he was the one who did the handstand. πŸ™‚

We went to Bacolod to celbrate Masskara. The thing is, we didn’t really get to watch the parades and join the festival coz our itinerary was…funny. Still, had so much fun with my friends. Til the next Living the Life trip! πŸ™‚

BTW, if you really want to know about what to do and where to go/eat in Bacolod, leave a comment and I’ll do what I can to help. πŸ˜‰

Screw It!

Nope, I’m not mad at anybody/anything. I just wanted to finally teach you all how to “screw” your hair up in a bun with the Goody Spin Pins I’ve been using like crazy. (Remember I wore them here?)

Okay, first lemme just say that I enjoy wearing my hair down. But I do put my hair up when I’m going for a different look or when it gets too hot. Before hearing about the Spin Pins, I’d use ponytails to put my hair up, but the problem with ponytails is that it makes the bun sag and eventually fall apart. Plus, it’s painful to take the ponytails out most of the time.

So if you want a painless bun that is sure to stay in place, use the Goody Spin Pins. πŸ™‚

and HERE’S HOW YOU DO IT. πŸ˜‰

STEP ONE: Gather your hair into a ponytail. You can do a high bun or a low bun. It’s up to you.

STEP TWO: Twist your hair into a bun.

STEP THREE: Use the Spin Pin to secure bun by, you guessed it, screwing it in. Trust me, it doesn’t hurt at all. πŸ™‚ Use the second Spin Pin to lock the bun in place.Β

AND YOU’RE DONE!Β

TAKING IT OUT:Β To take it out, just “unscrew” the Spin Pin and you’re done. πŸ˜‰Β

Wasn’t that quick, easy and painless? πŸ™‚

Actually, while doing the buns Danika Navarro and I (yep we were together that time haha) found out there are more ways to enjoy the Spin Pins. Wanna see? πŸ™‚

We used them as toys! haha as mini swords and as mustaches! We obviously had too much fun with them πŸ™‚

Grab your own pair of Spin Pins from Goody and screw away! HAHA

(Spin Pin product shot from http://www.hello-rio.com )

The rest of the photos by my favorite photographer EVER, Tippi Sy! (Thank you, Tipper! Cheer up, babe, k? Love you!)

Hope you enjoyed the post!

Print on Print (on Print on Print on Print)

Phew. 5 times the print, 5 times the fun! or maybe I was just lazy and just threw on everything I saw.

Polo, H&M | Lace dtop, Topshop | Shorts, Wet Seal | Floral Scarf, H&M | Leopard Print Scarf, Cotton On | Belt, Calvin Klein | Oxfords, Forever 21 | Bag, American Eagle

Wore this to lunch with my girls Rocky de Castro and Tracy Ayson. I was two hours late. (yep, bad Alyssa.) but they totes waited for me. They are the sweetest. πŸ™‚

I got to SoFA at around 2pm and instead of going straight to lunch, we stayed a bit more to take outfit shots! HAHA Ate a huge meal at Whistlestop and went straight to Miss B’s Tuckshop to get a taste of the best smoothies ever!! I had PB&J while Trace had the Roasted Marshmallow smoothie.

Here are the pictures. Had so much fun with you two! Let’s do this again SOON! See you girls tomorrow (tonight actually, since it’s 2 AM). haha Love you both! πŸ˜€ to more awesome lunches/events/anything with you girls <3

All pics are from Tracy. Thank you love! πŸ™‚

btw, if you wanna see how cheesy my best friend Rocky is, check out her post here. I was so touched babe, i love you πŸ™‚

BTW, I loved what they wore that day. Don’t you? they made me feel so underdressed. hahaha

Red White and Blue

Top, Shorts, Cardigan, Heels, and Bag, MANGO | Scarf, Patricia Prieto’s

Add yellow and I’d be wearing the Philippine flag. Speaking of the Philippines, I’m probably in Bacolod right now for the Masskara festival (if my flight didn’t get cancelled.) But I still left you guys with a post. πŸ˜‰

Hope you like this outfit. It’s another rendition of the menswear as womenswear trend. The menswear inspired piece in this outfit is the slouchy cardigan – which I adore. And that bag…*sigh*

Anyway, please pray that all things go well and that we don’t get stranded there. 😐 post again soon! πŸ™‚

College All Over Again

Coz we Ateneans are 4 – Peat Champions, we went to the Bonfire to celebrate! πŸ™‚

Used my awesome Goody items – the gray Stayput Barrettes and the Spin Pin for my bun. πŸ˜‰ Will post the Spin Pin tutorial soon, so wait for that. πŸ˜‰

Here’s the necklace from Rosa Artistica. Told you I really like it! πŸ™‚

And my Ylla shoes. πŸ™‚ You know what, I keep telling people I hate wearing flats but these are so comfy that I’d trade them for heels any day. πŸ˜‰

and and and, last but definitely not least, my Slapwatch! πŸ™‚ I haven’t been wearing it because it got buried under the accessories I had to bring for a shoot. But now that I found it, you’re gonna be seeing a lot more of it. πŸ˜‰

Now, meet my friends. Since I couldn’t take their outfit shots I’m blogging their jumpshots instead. Teehee.

Β Meet the birthday girl, Rose Santos πŸ™‚ HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! πŸ˜€ I know you don’t like posting your face but but but it’s your birthday! hahaha πŸ˜€

Remember Paul? (first seen here) Anyway, here he is. He’s the one who usually takes my outfit shots. πŸ™‚

Next is his brother, Ralph Mendoza. He also takes my outfit shots. HAHA

Because RJ doesn’t have a decent solo jump shot, here’s a pic of him mid-air with Ralph. He has never taken my outfit shots but he is the one who took the next pic.

For RJ, “everyday is Valentine’s day”. #gettingemowithmySlapWatch

Hope you liked my back to Ateneo outfit. πŸ˜‰

Like A Boss

Bipolar Tank, Scrunch | Heeled Booties, Aldo | Necklace, Artsy Rosy | Ponytail (on wrist), GoodyΒ

Photos by: Florian Trinidad

Glad I wore my Bipolar top from Scrunch to work because the top is just too comfy! It’s perfect for running around (not like I did any; just saying.) Also, I paired my top with an awesome necklace from Artsy Rosy. I’ve been wearing this like crazy (well, this, and the feather necklace they gave me). I LOVE this necklace. πŸ™‚ I’m not sure what material they used but I love the feel and look of the fringes. πŸ™‚ And of course, I had to have my Goody ponytail with me. I like my hair down but when it gets hot or when I feel like it, I put my hair up. And let me tell you, Goody ponytails not only stay put, they don’t hurt either. Trust me.

Oh, if you were wondering, the title’s from…well…acting like my boss! IΒ don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it here before, but I’m actually doing an internship now under THE Sarah Meier. (If you ask me how it is, I swear I won’t stop talking because she is the most down-to-earth person I know. I have a thousand awesome stories of her. but hey, that’s not my point). She had a shoot with her friend Vicky Herrera.Β I won’t tell you what it’s for just yet. But SOON. We’re all excited about this. πŸ™‚

So while they were getting ready, I, along with my fellow internΒ (she works for Vicky), fellow SoFA girl, fellow Atenean and awesome friend, Flor Trinidad, had our own little shoot. So everybody, meet Flor. πŸ˜‰

She’s so fashionable and edgy with those Doc Martens of hers. haha I love this girl. I am so glad she’s Vicky’s intern and that I get to work with her on stuff. πŸ™‚

If you really wanna know what the shoot was for, fine I’ll give you a clue. But it’s kinda hard to guess. Still, I’ll leave you with this link:Β http://playwiththedolls.tumblr.com/Β  Enjoy! πŸ˜‰

Guess Who’s a “College Fashionista”?

Lookie! My gorgeous friend, Nicole Ramos (who has awesome abs, by the way), featured me on College Fashionista in the Style Advice of the Week! πŸ™‚ Remember when I got inspired by the Ateneo High uniform here? Well, apparently, Nic liked that and wrote an article on it. πŸ™‚

Here’s the whole article! (you can also click this) πŸ™‚

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Borrowed from the Boys

Sep 12, 2011

Who would have known that one could exude a laid back like-a-dude vibe while radiating appeal? It’s the unanticipated glamour of say, a plain white polo, a tailored blazer or perhaps a cropped pair of trousers. It’s when women take on menswear.

From the embellished tuxedo-inspired pieces of Dolce & Gabbana to the sleek suit separates of Ruffian in fall 2011, it is clear that this recurring runway favorite is well on its way to becoming a classic rather than just a trend.

What’s great about the borrowed from the boys look or as this Fashionista would like to call it, β€œBoyspiration”, is that instead of rushing over to a clothing store for pieces for the look, you can go straight to your boyfriend’s closet!

Long boy trousers could easily be folded or cropped so that they show off the ankles (an instant plus point for appeal, something Tyra Banks swears by). Pair them with sky high heels (like the Fashionsta’s from Soule Phenomenon) and the look is complete! Pairing a boyfriend blazer with a low-cut, body con dress is another quick trick. Anything goes as far as garments go, really. The key to pulling off the look is the editing. With the loose polo fromΒ H&M, the Fashionista opted for fitted slacks fromΒ Forever 21. Always think, designed for men but made to fit women’s bodies. Also, do not be afraid to accessorize. It’s the easiest way to girl-up your look without taking away from your β€œBoyspiration”.

This Fashionista got it right. What amusingly was an ode to a local boy school’s high school uniform turned out to be a relaxed yet sexy, comfy yet stylish casual day outfit.Β

Do It Like A Dude

This week’s Stylebible.ph’s Blogger Challenge is out! The trend? Menswear as Womenswear.

If y’all didn’t know, I am such a sucker for menswear. I buy men’s pieces for myself or if I’m feeling a bit thrifty, I ransack the closets of my guy friends and borrow their stuff instead (no joke, this happened again 3 days ago. haha)

Anyway, here’s my look in the blogger challenge. πŸ™‚

Everything, Mango

Photographed by Tippi Sy

And here are a couple others. πŸ˜‰

Look #2

Look #3

All clothes by Mango πŸ™‚

Okay, here are the reasons why I love menswear: 1) they are just too comfy. 2) you can wear them loose and hide those bulges you get from pigging out (which I totes do often) 3) I personally think it’s best kept clean and simple. So accessories are something you wouldn’t have to think about. πŸ˜‰

The menswear pieces in my outfits are the polos and the cardigan. And can I just say, I LOVE the pieces! The white polo has got to be my favorite polo though. I also really like those heels! They could totally replace the nude pumps. haha

here’s the Stylebible.ph article! πŸ™‚

Β Read the rest of the stuff HERE. πŸ™‚

Hope you guys liked how I wore the trend! πŸ˜‰
