BTS: Status Mag X Penshoppe Shoot

I am NOT a morning person. But in all honesty I didn’t mind getting up at around 6 to get ready for a shoot for Status Magazine last May 19. ๐Ÿ™‚ Since I can’t release pics yet, here are some BTS shots. ๐Ÿ™‚

Miko Carreon and Kyle Quizon

Bianca getting made upDan and his model! haha L-R: Dan Buenaventura, A, Mikoย Carreon, Toff Tiozon, Valย Chuaย (an amazing artist!)ย and Mark

It was nice meeting everyone! everyone was so nice and friendly and YOUNG. haha Dan and I felt old during the shoot. Old. at 20! hahaha anyhoo, more pictures and more stories when I can release the outfit photos. This was just a special sneak peak. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hint: what we did involved crossing the streets of Makati – multiple times – a feat I should be good at, but unfortunately, speeding cars and taxis aren’t my forte. Pray with me that it turns out well. I have a nagging feeling that I look fat in the shots. ๐Ÿ˜

PFW 05. 15. 11

I didn’t realize how tiring it was to watch 3 shows in one day. I don’t know how others do it. Saw the Grand Allure, the Premiere C ( the one with Kermit Tesoro) and Penshoppe shows last May 15, 2011. Okay, I barely saw the Penshoppe show coz they opened it to the public and we were waaaaay at the back. Saw the heads of the models though. HAHA

Anyhoo, here are my PFW day 3 buddies.

ย Chase, A, Irizze

Chase and Stephen, who served as the crazy driver for the day. We made it in time thanks to this guy. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Meet Kam, batchmate and fellow blogger AND fellow Kermit fan. ๐Ÿ˜€

Saw Divine again! And look at those shoes.

Killer shoes, literally and figuratively.

Saw more awesome people that night and more awesome clothes of course. I think the collections deserve a separate post though so my blogs about PFW aren’t over yet. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Tiring night! ate sisig after the shows (busog) and met up with the barkada after at Home Depot. Perfect way of ending the night. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m off to SG and KL next week but I’ll try to blog while I’m there. See you in a few days, Philippines! ๐Ÿ™‚ Til next time! ๐Ÿ™‚

PFW 05.12.11

I planned on going to fashion week almost everyday BUT things don’t always go as planned. ย Anyhoo, despite my ludicrous attempts to get someone to drive me to SMX for the F21 show, I ended up driving my ass there.

The show was really fun. It’s the first fashion show I watched where the models were actually smiling while walking. They were also dancing and clapping during the final walk so it looked like the models were having fun too. And can I just say, the styling was amazing! Kudos to celebrity stylist, Alyanna Martinez.ย The F21 brand ambassadors were also there. too bad they didn’t walk!

Here are some pics from the set. ๐Ÿ™‚

wanna know who I watched with this time?

Meet Cox, my PFW day 2 buddy, who was very fashown with that scarf he was wearing!

Here’s one of my favorite brand ambassadors, David Guison. He’s so adorable that people make the cutest videos for him. Hahaha (hi, David! ๐Ÿ˜€ peace. Haha)

Aaaaand, here are the girls I love. Didn’t regret driving at all to watch just one show coz I got to see these pretty ladies. (L-R: Dan, Potch, Nico, Kryz, Patricia, Me and Shen)

AND OMG IT’S DIVINE LEE.

had another fan girl moment with … Divine Lee! For those who don’t know, she’s not only a model, she’s also a business mogul. She’s uber sosyal yet uber gay when she talks too. I love her. Got so starstruck that I lost all social skills. Went up to her while people were asking for pictures and called her saying ‘hi Divine. We’re next!’ <—- what is demanding. Haha buti nalang she was so nice. I saw her again a few days after which I will kwento in the next few posts. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, I finally remembered to take an outfit shot.

Clothes: Knit top, Topshop; Floral pants ย and belt, H&M; heels, Parfois; bracelet, F21

Til the next post darlings! ๐Ÿ™‚

Blogger Challenge: Maxi Skirts

Late post of Stylebible’s Blogger Challenge feature two weeks ago. The trend was maxi skirts and here’s the feature. ๐Ÿ™‚

What made you try this trend?
I adore everything shortโ€”mini skirts, short shorts and dressesโ€”so at first, I was really hesitant to try wearing a maxi skirt. I felt like it would drown out my tiny frame and it would be unflattering. Since I started blogging though, I promised myself that I’d try new looks, so I got myself a maxi despite the hesitation.

How do you build your outfit around it?
Start with the skirt then look for a top to pair it with. If you want to put emphasis on the skirt, try wearing a more neutral top and accessories.

How do you style it to make the look your own?
My style is, more often than not, a combination of sexy and feminine. So I kept it sexy by pairing it with a cropped corset, showing a hint of skin. I also balanced it out and kept it feminine by using pink lipstick, a pink bag and pearls.

How do you balance your look to avoid making it look over-the-top?
I personally think it’s all about balancing skin exposure. If you want to avoid looking too conservative, try pairing it with a sleeveless top. Also, it’s best to highlight the skirt, so if the skirt is already printed, try opting for a plain top.

How do you accessorize the maxi skirt trend?
You can accessorize it by wearing beltsโ€”they not only highlight the skirt, they also highlight your frame. Also, necklaces and bracelets would be good complements too.

Can you give tips on how to wear this trend?
If you’re petite like me, you can try going for high waist maxi skirts. They easily help you maintain your curves. Also, the best kinds of maxi skirts for me are the loose ones. They are more feminine and fun, and they are better for summer. I would also recommend getting a sheer maxi skirt, I’ve also been on the lookout for the perfect one.

How would you wear it during the day, night, to the beach, to a party, to work, etc.?
Maxi skirts are perfect for the beach, I paired mine with my strapless bikini top. At night, I wore a black sleeveless top and belted my skirt. You can also wear this trend at work by pairing it with a sleeveless top and wearing a blazer over it. After work you can lose the blazer, amp up the make-up and accessories and you’re good to party.

Alyssaย wore a denim corset fromย Topshop, a vintage maxi skirt with heels fromย H&Mย and accessories fromย Forever 21.

Other bloggers featured were Angela Nepomuceno, Joanna Ladrido, Lexi Gancayco, Noelle Chantal, and my friend Reg Rodriguez ๐Ÿ™‚ Check out the feature here. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks to Jacque and StyleBible for this. ๐Ÿ™‚

Rio Mints X SoFA

Hello loves! I am determined to flood you with pics from events. haha kidding. ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you heard of Rio Mints? I haven’t before this week but once I tasted the mints, I couldn’t stop eating more. haha but I’m getting waaay ahead of myself.

SoFA tied up with Rio Mints for the brand’s launch last Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Robot Bar, Makati. 6 students were asked to create pieces for the event that showcased the colors of the products. Candy + Fashion = Perfection. haha Went to the event with fellow bloggers and enjoyed the food, the show and of course, the mints!

The brand launched their six flavors: Burgundy Grape, Green Tea & Peppermint, Honey Melon, Cool Peach Jasmine, Pink Grapefruit and Juicy Lychee! My personal favorites are the Honey Melon and Juicy Lychee. Although I have yet to try Grape and Peach. ๐Ÿ™‚ These mints are addicting though! You really taste the fruity flavors but at the same time the mint feels really fresh. Plus, check out the packaging. It’s gorgeous. AND. you slide it to open. howย sosyal! ๐Ÿ˜€

Here are some shots. ๐Ÿ™‚

Group shot! Student designers and their models! ๐Ÿ™‚ Good job everyone!

With beauuuuutiful designer, Nico Aquino (who made the first dress I posted) and partner-in-crime/rio mints buddy/fellow creative well (HAHA), and equally beautiful Guia Alvendia. ๐Ÿ™‚ย

With fellow bloggers, Guia and Shen

With gorgeous SoFA-mate, Jan Aranilla

Host of the day, Ms. Bianca Valerio. I love what she’s wearing. ๐Ÿ™‚

More gorgeous ladies! My personal favorite, Ms. Amina Alunan-Aranaz with the head of Rio Mints, Ms. Joni Ong
Guess who I saw? Francis Garcia. ๐Ÿ™‚ I missed you babe!

Clothes: Top, Forever 21; Pants, H&M; Heels and Scarf, Parfois

Shot taken by Guia. Thanks, dear! ๐Ÿ™‚
and some random pic of me posing. haha

Rio Mints are available in convenience stores already. Seriously though, they really are delish. ๐Ÿ™‚

Parfois: N. [par.fwa]

Last Friday, April 29, 2011, while everyone was busy watching Kate and Will getting married, I was at SM Southmall for the opening of a branch of a favorite accessory brand of mine, Parfois (which I first featured hereย and then again here).

Before I talk about the event, let me show you some pics. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s Parfois’ Market Manager, Rogerio Alvez, throwing candies after the blessing for luck ๐Ÿ™‚

And here are some of the adoooooorable stuff that caught my eye. ๐Ÿ™‚ย

It’s so hard to keep myself from spending when I see shoes like these.ย

I want this bag!!! If I go to Bora this May, I have to get this bag. hahaย

And remember that I was the stylist for the day (as seen in this post)? Well, here’s a picture of me in action!

Wanna see who availed of my styling services? haha here you go. Meet Ana. ๐Ÿ™‚ ย She’s wearing Parfois necklaces, bracelets, belts, rings and flats! Talk about excessorizing! ๐Ÿ™‚

Meet Maxine. She’s wearing Parfois necklaces, bracelets and bag. ๐Ÿ™‚

Now meet Ms. Kim, the brand manager. ๐Ÿ™‚ She’s wearing a Parfois necklace and belt. You have to be as stylish to be the brand manager!

Got my picture taken with Market Manager, Rogerio and Kim. ๐Ÿ™‚

More gorgeous girls from Parfois! Here are Sam and Krista. We posed in Parfois scarves and hats. We were in theme for the Royal Wedding! btw, I liked the hat so much I ended up getting it. haha

Okay, so I was absolutely ecstatic when Joanna Estrada called me about the opening of a branch of theirs. She told me about them wanting to have a stylist-for-a-day activity and I immediately said yes. haha

Good thing I did (and that I didn’t have school or work.) We got there a little past 3 and waited for the blessing and the ribbon cutting. After that, we celebrated with pizza being passed around the store. ๐Ÿ™‚ Just imagine how happy I was eating pizza while surrounded by accessories. haha

If you’re wondering about the styling, I only got to style 2 girls. It was fun though, they chose some pieces that they really wanted and we just tried to add other complementing pieces. Thanks to Maxine and Anna for being so game! ๐Ÿ˜€ Although I do wish we had other girls who wanted to try out the hats and the scarves, especially since I always get so giddy with scarves. haha Oh well, maybe next time. ๐Ÿ™‚

Despite me only styling 2 people, the event was extremely fun! We did nothing but try on stuff and make each other try on stuff. HAHA I felt like we were shopping the whole time. It was also really nice getting to meet the people behind the brand. They had so much energy, I can only imagine how fun it must be in the office! And I learned so many things. Using the terms slips and corsetry, for instance. ๐Ÿ™‚

I also learned a lot from Rogerio especially about the brand’s aggressive expansion. The Portuguese brandย came to the Philippines just last December and now they already have 3 branches here and 2 more opening in May, both in Davao. This is a dream for a lot of companies and I applaud Parfois for doing this real well. ๐Ÿ™‚ Imagine, they already have 230 branches worldwide! Wow. It really is no surprise though once you see their items. They have a great selection of jewelry, handbags, wallets, watches, sunglasses, belts, scarves, hats, hair accessories AND shoes. So you can buy your basics and your dresses and whatever you want to wear, and head down to their store to find the perfect accessory for you. Don’t worry, you’ll find one (and maybe even more) as they have panels and panels of to-die-for products. ๐Ÿ™‚

Speaking of their items, wanna see what I got? ๐Ÿ™‚

So I got boots, the hat, the necklace I was wearing during the event and a scarf, courtesy of Parfois. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you so much! Can’t wait to wear them! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you so much to everyone! It was absolutely lovely meeting all of you – Rogerio, Kim, Sam, Krista, Che and the rest of the team. Hope to meet Joanna soon too! Thank you for having me, I had such a blast. ๐Ÿ™‚

For those who are interested, as I’m sure you are, their branches as of now are in 2/F SM Megamall, G/F SM Southmall and in Glorietta 4. It’s sale in their Megamall branch btw, so you guys should go before the sale ends! They’re also opening in SM Davao and Abreeza Davao in the next month, which means more branches to visit!

You can like them on Facebook here or visit their site atย http://www.parfois.comย for more info. Oh, I heard they have a Mother’s Day Freebie too. Check it out! ๐Ÿ™‚

p.s. I realized I wasn’t able to get an outfit shot so if you’re wondering what I was wearing, here it goes. dress (used as top), Topshop; Pants, Babo; Belt, Calvin Klein; Necklace and heels, Parfois ๐Ÿ™‚
